Have a look at generic Avodart ( Dutasteride ), it contains exactly the same ingredients as branded Avodart and works in exactly the same way. The only difference is the price. Big savings for you!

Avodart was originally created to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BHP), which is enlargement of the prostate. It Is now commonally used as a treatment for hair loss in men.
It is estimated that around half of all men will suffer from Male Pattern Baldness ( MPB ).

While this often hereditary condition can affect men in their late teens or early twenties, it usually occures in later life, up to forty percent of men experience the first signs of hair loss by their late thirties.

While it is not possible to completely eliminate baldness, there are drugs, such as Avodart ( Dutasteride ), which can help to reverse some of the signs of male pattern hair loss. As with any progressive condition, the sooner you treat it, the more effective the treatment.

Often, men are reluctant to seek medical advice about their hair loss. This can be due to embarrassment, or because they simply don’t have time to make an appointment with their doctor. Also, the NHS does not provide for hair loss medication such as finasteride or dutasteride so obtaining medication from a reputable online pharmacy such as is the obvious solution. DRM has been supplying online hair loss treatments since 1997.

Finasteride 1mg tablets are the only licensed oral hair-loss treatment in the UK – Dutasteride is licensed for other medical conditions and is safe to take. It is widely prescribed by doctors to men who have had a limited response to Propecia.

What is Avodart ( Dutasteride? )

Dutasteride is the active ingredient in the popular hair loss treatment, Avodart, both branded and generic. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor.

What does Avodart do?

Avodart attacks both types of 5-alpha reductase , an enzyme in the follicle that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. It is a sensitivity to dihydrotestosterone which causes hair follicles to narrow and shrink , causing progressively thinner, weaker hair to grow and eventually resulting in baldness.

How does Avodart help with hair loss?

Everybody loses around 100 hairs a day, usually when washing or brushing the hair. This is part of the hair’s natural life cycle and when a hair falls out naturally, the follicle produces a new, healthy hair.
In men with Male Pattern Baldness, increasing levels of the male hormone, testosterone, leads to elevated levels of dihydrotestosterone. A 5-alpha reductase inhibitor such as Avodart inhibits the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, which means less sensitivity. This stops the hair follicles from narrowing, resulting in the return of thicker, healthy hair.

There are two types of 5-alpha reductase treatments, the other popular hair loss treatment, Finasteride, inhibits type II 5-alpha reductase. Avodart inhibits both types and is much more potent than Finasteride. Dutasteride is therefore an effective treatment for Male Pattern Baldness ( MPB ) in men who have tried Finasteride / Propecia with little, or diminishing, success.

What are the differences between Avodart and Generic Dutasteride?

Avodart and Dutasteride both contain the same active ingredient: Dutasteride. However, Dutasteride is a generic term, while Avodart is a brand name. While Avodart is widely trusted as a successful hair loss treatment, branded products usually cost significantly more than generic drugs, despite doing the same thing.

How long does Avodart take to work?

Usually, patients will need to take Avodart for around six months for visible improvements in hair thickness.

What are the side effects of Dutasteride?

Some people may be allergic to Dutasteride. If you experience signs of allergy including a rash, hives, itching or swelling, stop taking the medication and tell your doctor straight away.
Up to ten percent of men using Dutasteride experience: impotence, reduced sex drive, difficulty ejaculating, or breast enlargement. Other, less common side effects include shortness of breath and heart problems. In addition, there have been rare reports of depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts in patients taking this type of medication.

Important information about side-effects of these medications:

Finasteride (Propecia) and Avodart (dutasteride) cause the lowering of your natural testosterone levels (rarely) leading to side effects such as impotence and prostate problems. In addition, a very small number of patients have reported symptoms of depression and (rarely) suicidal thoughts.

A recent study has concluded:

The incidence of erectile dysfunction, ejaculatory dysfunction and decreased libido resulting in discontinuation from therapy was significantly higher in the test of  dutasteride (5.1%, 2.4%, 2.7%, respectively) compared with the finasteride (2.1%, 1.8%, 1.4%, respectively) group (p < 0.01) (reference Science Direct comparisons of finasteride and dutasteride) A recent study has shown that patients taking dutasteride (or finasteride) have a lower overall risk of low-grade prostate cancer but a higher risk of more serious (high-grade) prostate cancer. If you have any symptoms such as blood in the urine or difficultly urinating (passing water) you should contact your doctor for advice.
